Homemade Spray Booth
Since I started airbrushing I have thought about getting a spray booth since the garage gets pretty hot in the summer. On top of that I have to move everything outside then back in when I am done. I looked to buy one and they were about 150-200 dollars. I decided they were two much so I made some plans to build my own for about 70 dollars or so. But after realizing that I am not that good of a carpenter and it would take me quite a while to build it I scrubbed the idea. Then I got tired of painting in the garage again so I decided to build again. Since I was in rush (ok impatient) I got to thinking of cheap and quick ways. So I came up with this plan just use a box fan and card board box. I thought I would need a filter between the card board box and the fan so any paint particles would stick to it instead of going though and sticking to the window screen so I picked up a 20x20 air filter. I “engineered” the filter to the fan so I would not have to worry about it falling off. So far it has worked great and built it all for about 15 bucks. Now the disclaimer is it could cause an explosion if flammable vapor goes though the motor with may cause a spark and ignite the fumes. I am not going to worry about since I don’t use flammable paints but you have been warned. I really like it and it is nice to be able to paint in the house and not out in the heat. When not in use I can fold the card board box and stow it all in a corner.
