Shurtape CP-60
( http://www.shurtape.com)

I have always used the blue painters tape you can find a Wal-mart and other stores. It has worked pretty good in the past, but I have always wanted to try tamiya tape but no one carries it locally and it is expensive about 5-7 dollars for a small amount. It turns out that Tamiya is just repackaging their tape. Which is common for most model companies that sale their brand of products. The Shurtape CP-60 is available at Sherwin Williams painting stores, is the exact same tape. I have talked with other models you use Tamiya tape exclusively and they agree it’s the same thing and have switch to using it. You still pay about 5-6 dollars but you get 10 times the amount. Same amount as regular masking tape. You can also get wide tape as well.

Compared to blue and purple tape this stuff is awesome. I like it because it sticks well and is fairly transparent. I mark my models with a pen and place the tape over the marks and I am still able to see them so I know where to cut my tape to mask a part. I use a photo cropper to cut long strips when I need them. I still use my blue tape but it is for bulk masking. I do all my edges with this and use the blue tape to cover the rest of the model so I will not use up all my gold tape.
